Healthy Habits for a Better Lifestyle

The worldwide event, pioneered by the United Nation’s World Health Organization (WHO), draws attention to an important topic related to wellness each year. This year’s WHO campaign hones in on the theme of food safety. Is your food safe? Where did the ingredients come from? Were they properly - and safely - handled from every stage, from farm to plate? The organization raises these food-related questions in hopes of provoking change in food handling methods.

The WHO estimates that two million deaths are caused by contaminated food and drinking water worldwide. Furthermore, over 200 diseases are caused by unsafe food containing harmful bacteria, parasites, viruses and or chemical substances. This year’s efforts are geared towards reducing these incidents.

FUTEK Advanced Sensor Technology, Inc. joins the WHO movement by celebrating health events of their own. The FUTEK team, along with Aetna, sponsors an annual Wellness Expo for all employees, which includes: health screenings, family lifestyle info, interactive demos, mini massages, safety & environment booths and more.

FUTEK recognizes the importance of cultivating a healthy and active work culture. They understand that to keep a team motivated and enthusiastic about their craft they must also care for the team’s health upkeep.

In addition to the Wellness Expo scheduled for April 10th, FUTEK team members participate in other activities that promote active and healthy living throughout the year. The team takes part in The Annual American Heart Association Heart Walk held at the Angels Stadium of Anaheim. Many of the team members embrace the active lifestyle and participate in activities such as hiking, rock climbing, biking, group fitness classes, weight training, and lunch-time perimeter walks.

FUTEK believes that today’s culture should embrace the benefits of proper nutrition paired with an active lifestyle because doing so will improve a person’s quality of life on all levels.
